This piece is an exploration of the contrast between the two forms of

cold precipitation in winter. Freezing rain starts slow, in an almost

chaotic yet periodic order, and builds to an uncomfortable intensity.

Snow, however, is more graceful and welcomed, albeit just as cold.

Contrasting forms of serialism build, and then gradually give way to a

mostly tonal climax. I personally have many fond memories of snow

and the times where it’s framed the memories of my life, but not so for

freezing rain.
