This piece is roughly based on the fires in California that affected Sequoia National Park in

2020 and 2021, and how these events wiped out 10-14% of all sequoia trees and affected over

6000 acres of forest. Many parts of the once lush and interconnected forest are now sparse and

blackened, and will be for a century or longer . This piece attempts to highlight the once

beautiful national park, and the permanent change to the foundation of the forest and the

ecosystem these res have caused.
